Organize your Desktop with Fence

Image Via Teck~Line

Okay So now I have mentioned two Desktop Organizers First was “Object Dock“   But I was having problems with “Object Dock” causing my computer to lag So I switched to “Rocket Dock” and really I like the “Rock Dock” desktop application. But today I going to write about a new nifty desktop organizer called “Fence” by “Star dock” the same company that made  “Object Dock”

Update: I forgot to mention Fence, is FREE

I know many of you first off are going to think I tried their Object dock application and it cause my computer to lag

I don’t blame you if your first thought of Fence is bad and think that fence will cause your computer to lag like “Object Dock”  does. It sure was my first thought when I found out that “Fence”  was made by “StarDock”. By my surprise I found out that “Fence” only requires a OS to run on your desktop as you can see from the Quote below.

“System Requirements”
●Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
●On Vista and Windows 7, both 32bit

and 64bit versions are supported. Quote source

Okay Now that the Boring Intro is done  lets get to why Fence is a worthy application.

The first thing you’ll notice about “Fence” is it’s a different approach from the “Mac OS Navigation Bar” as you can see from the image at the top of this post. You maybe asking your self at this point what does Fence have to offer compared to “Rocket dock” & “Object Dock”‘ :?: Well believe or not “fence” packs a Great hidden Feature that the two other applications Fail to offer it’s the ability to Hide all your icons or Just icons you want hidden from your desktop while maintaining the ability to still have drag and drop organizing . But the great hidden agenda here is if you like to make screen casts the  auto hide feature is a plus to have to tidy up the desktop and keep the icons hidden from the viewers view  to help keep the audience focused on the screen cast content while you keep your desktop organized.

How to activate  Auto Hide All you have to do after installing fence is double click with the left mouse button any where on the screen that is blank  and the same to make the icons redisplay.

How to make a Fence All you have to do is hold down the right mouse button and drag then let go then you’ll be asked to name the fence.

Screen cast via Teck,

Note In the screen cast left clicks are highlighted by red and right clicks are highlighted by blue.

Please Note this video is best viewed in  full screen with HD turned on you’ll see the HD button on the bottom of the video the button will turn red when clicked  by default the video plays in standard definition

hmm… seems a rather fine app actually. I’ll try and see if Stardock is offering a shareware or demo version and test it at home. After all, my desktop has been declared catastrophic zone by NATO in several ocassions.

      Hello WING,

Fence, is actually free so you will have no problem testing out fence, cost wise to see if it’s worth keeping for your desktop organization needs.

Sorry I didn’t mention it was Free in the Post I will edit the post
for future reference the clear up the misconception.

Thanks for stopping by hope hear from you again. :)

Installed and tested. Wonderful app indeed although I can notice a small lag when issuing commands in the fences (not a big deal anyways). Very recommended
