Meet the new sexy twitter app called blu

April 10, 2009 T3CK 1 comment

blu is a very sexy twitter desktop client but what sets blu apart from the rest is the way the desktop client interacts with the user.
Since blu has so much eye candy I will just let the video speak for it’s self courtesy via Demogirl

Screencast of blu

This movie requires Adobe Flash for playback.

Blu also supports Windows XP and has had a major update since this video was posted also I recommend checking out this comment from the creator of blu for some more goodies that blu can perform.

Seesmic Rivals Tweet Deck with Seesmic DeskTop

April 9, 2009 T3CK 6 comments

.

Twitter Pictures, Images and Photos Seesmic is the owner of Twhirl the Twitter adobe air desktop twitter app recently they made a beta version called the seesmic  Desk-Top adobe Air desktop application that is geared towards rivaling the well known tweet deck, as you can see from the image below that they both have the same column concept.

SeesmicDesktop on the left and TweetDeck on the right

But as you can see Tweet-Deck has the right concept with the columns compared to the seesmic-Desktop as you can see from the image on the left the columns don’t line up but Seesmic is still in it’s earlying beta stage so this could be fixed before to long.

Some key features both apps offer

Seesmic Desktop offers the following
Pros

  • Cleaner interface
  • supports multiple accounts
  • search
  • multiple columns

Cons

  • No log out button
  • confusing interface to follow twitter users
  • memory hog

Tweet Deck offers the following

Pros

  • Facebook integration
  • memory hogging issue fixed
  • multiple columns
  • search
  • easier navigation for following twitter users
  • logout button

Cons

  • not so crisp looking interface
  • doesn’t support multiple accounts
  • filter option confusing at first

In the long run if your looking for a app that will support multiple accounts then seesmic will give tweet-Deck a run for it’s money. but if your looking for a more responsive reliable and less momery usage the tweet-Deck will give Seesmic desktop a run for it’s money.

  • There was a time, not long ago, when the power Twitter users were gaga for Twhirl. This Air app gave (and still gives) you quick access to different views of your Twitter network, as well as your FriendFeed stream. But Twhirl didn’t last as the go-to client once the Twitterati discovered TweetDeck. This service has the big advantage of giving users a multi-column dashboard of everything going on in Twitter that they might care about, all at once on one screen. It also let users set up ad-hoc groups of people to follow, and search terms to track. It’s the Bloomberg terminal equivalent for Twitterheads. TweetDeck is not the only multi-column Twitter client, however. On Tuesday Seesmic, which publishes Twhirl, released a preview of its own new multi-column client, Seesmic Desktop. It’s going up against another new client, the Mac-only Nambu, as well as the relatively unknown AlertThingy, which supports more non-Twitter services than any other Twitter client.

  • Seesmic, who also owns popular Twitter app Twhirl, has launched a new Twitter client, Seesmic Desktop. Like Twhirl, Seesmic Desktop is a desktop app, operated by Adobe Air. Seesmic Desktop allows you to view multiple accounts in one window, unlike Twhirl, where you have to view multiple accounts in different windows. It looks like it was designed to rival competitor TweetDeck, which is the most popular desktop client for Twitter. Le Meur says that Seesmic will discontinue adding features to Twhirl (he jokes that it has a difficult name) and will primarily focus on building out Seesmic Desktop.
